This course provides the skills and knowledge needed for the operations-level structural collapse specialist to rescue victims from a collapsed light frame and URM construction-type structure; including size up, incident action plans, search, cribbing systems, lifting and moving heavy loads, stabilization, breaching, and rescue.
Prerequisites: Rope Rescue Operations or LARRO and Rescue Systems 1 (SFT)
IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800 (FEMA)*
Confined Space Rescue: Awareness (SFT)
Structural Collapse Specialist (FEMA / computer-based training / 2017 or newer edition) – within two years prior to course registration

TThe Task Force Safety Officer – Instructor Led Training (ILT) course is designed to provide Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) Task Force personnel with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a Task Force Safety Officer (TFSO) on one a US&R task force. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to successfully perform the position of TFSO on a US&R task force.
The Task Force Safety Officer – Instructor Led Training (ILT) course is 25 hours of face-to-face training. Prior to attending this face-to-face training course, students must successfully complete the Task Force Safety Officer – Computer Based Training (CBT) course (course code: 9P7230) that is 6 hours.
Deadline to register is Friday, May 9, 2025.
Enrollment is open to 1 student per FEMA US&R Task Force. All students will be registered for the Instructor–Led Training (ILT) Course within the www.esf9training.org Learning Management System by their Training Manager. This course is a FEMA Sponsored Communications Specialist Course and is required to be deployable for emergency incidents. This class is designed for all students who meet the FEMA Task Force Position Description General Training Requirements.
Enrollment is limited to 2 students per FEMA US&R Task Force. Los Angeles County Fire Department - Del Valle Regional Training Center
November 3-7, 2025
The Instructor Led Training (ILT) Logistics Specialist course is designed to provide Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) Task Force personnel with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform logistics functions for a US&R team during a disaster or a planned event. Participants will learn the essential requirements of providing support, re-supply, transportation, sustainment, and maintenance of an equipment cache. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to successfully perform the position of Logistics Specialist on a US&R team.
The ILT Logistics Specialist course is 40 hours of face-to-face training. Prior to attending this face-to-face training course, students must successfully complete the Computer-Based Training (CBT) component of the Logistics Specialist course (Course Code: 9P4130) that is approximately 11 hours.
